Re: Navik windvane self-steering

I am in Malaysia so shipping will be expensive. Also your price is very high. These Naviks sold for € 1800 new in 2007, with a warranty. The highest price I have seen, was $ 1200 for a unit that had...

Re: Second hand equipment wanted.

I am buying a Frances 26, so I need a small, light wind vane self steering system, hence the Navik. I need a burner kerosene stove for her as well.

Yes the Ebbtide 36 is a great boat. My one...

Re: Second hand equipment wanted.

I am based in Malaysia, so will need to have things shipped here. As there is virtually no chance of finding either a Navik, or a kerosene stove here, I have no choice. What do you have for sale?

Re: Second hand equipment wanted.

Thanks Trekka, I will wait for your reply.

Please note that I was contacted by someone called Cleavland Mark, who sent me photos of a Kenyon stove, and a very nice looking Navik wind vane. Good...

Re: Balmar MC-614 Regulator Failure - Software Reset????

Can you find another boat with a 614, then swap regulators temporarily. That will enable you to pin point the problem. I did that when I had the same problem, and it indicated a wiring harness...

Re: tiller pilot ts 2000 raymarine

Have a look at the Pelagic tiller pilot. It is a much stronger, and more robust unit than the Raymarine. I use it on my steel Ebbtide 36 which weighs over 12 tons. It is not expensive either! I would...

Thumbs up Re: anyone used a Reef Rite Furler

I have a ReetRite furler on my steel Ebbtide 36 cutter. It is a great bit of kit, rugged, reliable and, combined with the Kiwi slides, a game changer. I usually sail alone, and have 4 sails that that...

Re: Autopilot HELP... Southern Cross 35'

I have steel Ebbtide 36, long keel, a heavy displacement (28000lb), tiller steered boat. Mostly offshore, I use the windvane, but for coastal passages, or when motoring, I use a Pelagic tiller pilot,...

Re: Where to Retire and sail.

Why not consider SE Asia? Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia have great cruising, all facilities and are cheap. Another great spot is South America, Uruguay, Chile, and Argentina. All much cheaper than...

Re: Use of specialized sails by shorthanded cruisers

I regularly use my twistle sails downwind. For those unfamiliar with this sail, it is a twin headsail with a common luff. I have a Reef Rite furler and 5 sails equipped with Kiwi slides. This enables...

Re: Identity of This Hand Pump

That is definitely a New Zealand made, Fynspray pump. They last forever with very little maintenance, but should be used fairly regularly, or the leather washer dries out and cracks, lanolin helps...

Re: TillerPilot on Double Ender

That unit is just way too weak for reliable service on your boat, unless you use it linked to a windvane system. The Pelagic tillerpilot is much more powerful and robust.

Re: Propane, alcohol or kerosene stoves?

Google "atonvoyages", James made a simple, cheap, gimbaled single burner stove. This is a safe, hot fuel, ideal for a small real voyaging sailboat.
