Re: Floor materials and finish
Guys, Everdure is epoxy and it's specifically designed for wood. International recommend 2-4 coats, but for an interior cabin sole 2 coats are fine. |

Re: Floor materials and finish
I use Everdure which is a 2 pack product made especially for wood. It soaks in an provides a high degree of moisture resistance. Apply 2 coats. You can then sand the upper surface and apply nonskid... |

Re: Best Dingy for a 45' Cat?
We purchased a Walker Bay hypalon RIB. PVC isn't intended to be stored in sunlight - so if you go PVC you must keep the boat well covered. I really like the AB dinghies which have aluminum bottoms... |

Re: Sailboat about to be clobbered by a 100-foot rouge wave (pic)
I was thinking the appropriate equipment was Scotch and a pair of Depends. Seriously though, there may be a myriad of reasons why the boat is abeam. It's quite likely that losing the rig is... |

I've been swimming around the boat and though I can hear it, it's quite faint if you're a few meters away. But it could be like a dog whistle... I'm going to have an long look at our boat in about... |

Re: What Questions to ask a Skipper?
And seriously, from experience: 1. Have you serviced the engine? Like ever? 2. Do you actually know how much fuel and water this bad boy carries? 3. Did you fill those tanks up? All questions... |

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!
Wharram's are beautiful boats. I like his design sense and his attention to detail. If HR had simply bought a set of plans with the builders estimated cost for materials, he could be well along... |

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!
The sad thing is that with his work ethic, but a more realistic plan, he could have had both the journey and the enjoyment of arriving at his destination. Measure twice, cut once.... |

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!
As I've stated, it'll probably float for a long time as a barge and I hope it does. But it was built with the stated purpose of sailing the builder and his family to Hawaii. Would any of those... |

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!
What this man has built is analogous to the south sea Cargo Cult versions of aircraft. The mere fact of building it doesn't somehow validate his efforts. It's a fairy tale to state that by... |

Re: The Flyin Hawaiian is gone!
I hate to say it, but this whole thing reminds me of those old B&W films showing a bunch of hopefuls crashing their self designed flying machines. Naive optimism meets grim reality..... |

Re: Rudder bearings
Not possible. You've got to pull out the rudder stock from below to change the lower bearings. The stern has to have quite a bit of clearance under it as the rudder + stock are quite tall. I did... |
