Re: Yaesu FT747

John,

Thank you so very much for a clear and complete overview and detail of how my old rig fits into the modern world!

I think, since I already have it, know it as to some of its quirks, feel...

Re: Older boat, Chevy 350, what grade

Run at least 2-3 batches of fuel from your marina to establish a baseline before you do anything. Watch for pinging under load, keep you eye on temperatures, then retard your timing 1-2 degrees and...

Re: Catamaran Charter Issue in Greece

Details like this are great to know as shown by this thread and the issues the OP faced without the right "permission slip" I stumbled across another requirement, close to home for me.

If I read...

Re: Marina acting strange RE: boat sale or are they?

How's this? I have 4 surveyors in the general area, I'm not keen on paying the rate a surveyor from the next region over, about 60 miles, wants for traveling. I finally lucked out and caught one...

Re: A question probably asked, so pardon me if I repeat it.

The money is there, it's just a matter of deciding if the cost & effort is worth the end result.

Not wishing to drag this out forever there's a 2009 thread here that deals with this issue;...

Re: A question probably asked, so pardon me if I repeat it.

No, I'm not hanging a dozen off the back, 4 or 5 like the picture shown and 6 flexible on the bimini and my cabin roof can handle 4 more.

14 panels @150w = 2100 potential watts.

It shouldn't...

Re: Marina acting strange RE: boat sale or are they?

Great opinions people, thank you. Can anyone answer if the marina can demand a share of the profits if I sell it before Aug 10? What I would do is to pay the marina the balance due before I collected...

Marina acting strange RE: boat sale or are they?

Reader's Digest version.

Back on Independence day I put a 32' MY under contract and left a sizeable deposit. The 32' MY is marina owned, taken because the PO didn't pay their slip fees. That same...

Re: Weight and displacement

I'm hoping that doesn't happen with her other boats I'm dealing with. The first one is spec'd at 12,500lbs. My new trailer is rated for 15,600lbs. The next boat I'm moving is spec'd at a weight of...

Re: A question probably asked, so pardon me if I repeat it.

My boat should handle 4 solar panels on the arch over the transom, add another 6 flexible panels on my bimini, then add another another 4 on the cabin roof for a total of 14 panels without looking...

Re: Weight and displacement

So when I subtract the published ballast from the published displacement the figure is the weight of the boat with engine all systems and sails, but not personal items. Is that right?

Does anyone...

Re: A question probably asked, so pardon me if I repeat it.

I didn't think it was a linear discharge. Where do I look for the discharge graph? Battery mfg? seems logical.

See, with my choice of 12v batteries you nearly got it wrong.

I think it's pretty...

Re: A question probably asked, so pardon me if I repeat it.

So my 4x200ah AGM bank (all 12v batteries for ease of math) which provide 400a@12v for 20hrs (mfg. rating) will provide 50a@12vdc for about 8 hrs?

I read that half the rated capacity should be...

Weight and displacement

At one time I knew the answer to this.

Is weight for a boat the same as the displacement for a boat?

Yaesu FT747

I happen to own a ft-747 with all the options, FM board and stabilized oscillator. It's also capable of continuous transmission from 500kc-30mhz.

I'd hate to abandon this radio as it is in mint...

A question probably asked, so pardon me if I repeat it.

I think the answer is already known but here's my question regardless.
