Re: Provisioning on St. Martin

Thanks Arnd. Was hoping to have delivery but Super U don't seem to offer that. Just checked out Carrefour but they don't list Anse Marcel as a delivery point. Will check out Prime and Divico.

Re: Provisioning on St. Martin

Resurrecting this very old thread as I am chartering out of Anse Marcel, St Martin next month. Back in 2009 I could provide the answer but, now, 15 years on I need some help.

What is the best way...

Re: First boat?

My wife was ok on a boat for holidays but there was no way she was going to live aboard and go cruising. Then, we tried a spacious, comfortable catamaran. Off we went to the caribbean and then a...

Re: Selling a 110v Catamaran in Europe

Although I live in a 220v zone, I had my boat built as 110v as it would be spending a lot of time in 110v areas. I spoke to the aircon manufacturer, Dometic, and they said it was ok to use a 220 >...

Re: Lagoon Confidence Lacking

Well you've bought probably the best Lagoon model of the last 25 years. There's a reason they carried on building them for so long... They got it right, just like Prout did another 20 years earlier....

Re: Crazy high generator hours: any ideas why?

That's exactly what I had. Lasted 11000 hours of use and abuse by charterers but with regular service. Great generators.

Re: Crazy high generator hours: any ideas why?

I owned a charter boat based in the BVI. In the Caribbean, people who charter boats run air conditioning and therefore generator an horrendous amount. It was not uncommon for a generator to be run...

Re: Best affordable option to haul out and store a catamaran near st augustine

My boat was stored at St Augustine Marine for nearly a year while awaiting sale. They were reasonable cost and arranged both mechanical and cosmetic work very well. A while ago now so things could...

Re: Privilege 585 deck moisture

Privilege core is Divinycell (https://www.diabgroup.com/products-services/divinycell-pvc/ and in my vast experience (one boat, 12 years ownership) you don't need to worry about moisture in...

Re: Swap your boat for my house in Oxford, UK for a couple of months

Good luck with this. You may find someone who'll take you up on this offer but, personally, as a boat owner I'd be wanting more like 3 months in a house for one month on a boat. The potential for...

Re: Caribbeans destination. First time Atlantic crossing

I sailed my brand new 44ft ft cat from France to St Lucia many years ago. At the time you are leaving, you'll be competing for space in the Canary Islands with the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers which...

Re: International Multihull Show '24

Excellent show. Well worth going, especially since you'll be in France anyway. Haven't been for a few years but might make it this year.

Re: Prout 38 - performance under power?

You are absolutely correct. That explains why the coachroof looked different on the 385.

Re: Prout 38 - performance under power?

Not many Prout 38s around. They went bust pretty soon after the launch of the 38 and 45. Search for info on the Broadblue 385 as it is pretty much the same boat - although the coachroof looks...

Re: Recommendations for a 5 day cat. vacation

Hi Tony. Given that you haven't sailed on your own as yet, bareboat is almost certainly not an option. Some charter companies are pretty relaxed about lack of experience but they'd normally limit you...

Re: Volvo Saildrive props

Props falling off Volvo saildrives was a pretty regular occurrence, even when installed according to the manual. I have a fair amount of personal experience of this. Coat the stub with some fast cure...

Re: anyone run a cat with one engine

Ran on one engine all the time but only had to dock once with only one engine. Fuel pump failed while arriving at a marina I'd never been in before. Went round in circles a few times getting closer...

Re: Haul out options in Florida E for catamaran?

Another recommendation for St Augustine Marine. If I remember correctly though our P435 was pretty tight in the travel lift dock. You might want to check maximum beam.

Re: VOYAGE MAYOTTE 1995

Direstraits... My Privilege had a thin layer of Corian on top of a foam type material (not the Divinycell used in the hull) and it was the only bit of bad design in the boat. Cracked early on. They...

Re: Family thinking of cruising, new to catamarans

Easy transition to a cat, just reef as soon as you think you might need to reef, not when you know you need to reef. Then spend an hour practising manoeuvring with just the two throttles. Job done. ...
