Re: StarLink Maritime Way Over Price

So, I’m no rocket scientist, but I do have Starlink at home.

If I understand correctly, all land based service (including the 12 miles offshore and RV crowd) must go through a Starlink ground...

Re: 2 stroke outboard starts but then dies when throttled or idle.

Totally agree with all of the above. I have delt with it all... but before you tear into the carb rebuild, check the integrity of your fuel lines leading to the motor. An air leak could cause the...

Re: Would a lightning strike be a deal-breaker?

As a Tayana 48 owner who has been struck by lightening, we have had no additional problems after we replaced all the electronics.

If I were you I’d be more concerned about the SS water tanks. ...

Re: An Okie going to the sea.....

Someone once told me that “in theory” a destroyer could steam up the Mississippi, hang a left at the Arkansas and be able to shell Tulsa. Any truth to that?

BTW, fellow Okie here underway on...

Re: Autopilot shelf

This. My recommendation would be to take your existing design to a metal fabricator and have them weld one using SS. You’re in Mexico. Work is cheap and there are SS welders servicing every marina.

Re: cruising guides Alaska, Mexico, Central America

Hey Carsten,

Good info above.

We found the Douglas guide for SE Alaska (Exploring Southeast Alaska) and Northwest Coast of British Colombia to be invaluable. They Cover almost every nook and...

Re: Beneteau Excess Catamarans Launched

On a separate note...I find it interesting that the marketing of many new cat brands specifically targets wealth (I.e Excess, Privilege, Exquisite...). Whatever happened to brands that evoke a sense...

Re: SCUBA air fills

This.

We carry two tanks and figured that wherever there is good diving there would be a dive shop to get refills. We were wrong.

Our two biggest regrets now are not bringing bicycles and...

Re: Slow water leak.

Do you have a water heater that utilizes your engine coolant?

I had the same problem of a slow coolant leak...found the culprit when I looked under my hot water heater.

Re: Your favourite small purchase

Was just at Autozone and picked up these cool LED strip lights for like $25.

Re: Instructions for crew - Crewing for Dummies

That Boye looks nice but pretty pricey.

I love my Myerchin. I would rate it as one of my top 5 “must haves/most used” onboard.

Re: Hylas 44 or pearson 422
