Re: Reliable small onboard printer in 2022?

We use a canon ip110, which is a color printer and have found it to be excellent. We keep it in a ziplock bag. The same for the paper.

We did not spring for the battery pack.

We have it set up...

Re: Lagoon Catamaran Smashed To Bits

Well written and thought-out. Thank you. Not a diatribe at all and very, very helpful to me who sometimes has situational awareness issues (in the very short term, admittedly).

Re: Has anyone ever opened an Iridium GO?

Yes!

We dropped ours while the USB connector was plugged in.

We had the connector inside reattached to board by someone who specializes in micro-soldering in Honolulu.

I remember taking it...

Re: Life rafts on small bluewater boats

I do worry about this as well, but this is what our pudgy looks like with the canopy up. There are two auto-inflate cylinders and, of course, a sea anchor. As other writers have written, the dinghy...

Re: Life rafts on small bluewater boats

Pete, we sail on a Maxi 95, 31' sloop. We re-rigged, removing the baby stay and going with two forestays. We mount a Portland Pudgy on our deck fully rigged with the self inflating canopy in place...

Re: Observations of an Iridium Go after first time use during a passage

No. The Iridium will not connect to router – old firmware,

However, we use the Iridium Go as a router, though support people tell us it is expressly not supported.

I have not been able to find...

Re: Can you use Starlink on a boat?

I spoke with a friend at PredictWind about when they would support StarLink. I was told two-three years in their opinion before StarLink would be ready for cruising boats.

Re: Pelagic Ram with Raymarine Electronics

Hi Pete,

The wheel drive seems to the only weak point. We generally use a Sailomat 3040 for self-steering, but there are times when I need and want the EV system. The wheel drive as you indicate...

Re: Pelagic Ram with Raymarine Electronics

Thanks, I understand the issue now. Is the signal sent out simply an on/off, or is the power raised and lowered? Basically, could I put a relay in the circuit, or would the electronics need to be...

I have an EV-1 Raymarine autopilot with a wheel drive on a 31-foot sailboat, 8000lb dry weight. I am planning to...

Re: Diesel Coolant color type to use

I’ve moved to Evans permanent coolant in my Yanmar 3GM30F.

It’s worked very well.
