Re: Part time liveaboard questions Miami/Fort Lauderdale area

Re: Seasonal slip rental SE Florida

I've worked with Dockfinders (https://www.dockfinders.com/home.html) on two different boats, one of which was a big cat with a 24' beam. Unless you want to stay at one of the major marinas (Las Olas,...

Re: buying in Florida

It will be her brokerage escrow account, not some personal bank account that she calls her escrow account. She's a licensed broker at a licensed brokerage, but yes, it's possible that she'll abscond...

Re: buying in Florida

Every broker thing in your list is dead standard here. The tax thing is wieird, but she's not having you on. You can keep it here for 30 days, I think, with no tax implications. Then you pay that...

Re: St. Thomas to Ft. Lauderdale

Absolutely! A skipper too cheap to pay my $75 flight is likely to be a very unpleasant person to sail with and crew for.

Re: Ft Lauderdale Marina Recommendations

I suspect that you have been misled, or someone made a mistake somewhere. I don't want to suggest that Bahia Mar will be cheap. It will not. All of the marinas in your original post are right near...

Re: how realistic are the prices on boat classified sites?

Lots of variables apply. Age is a factor, but condition is a bigger one. A very well cared for boat will sell for a lot more than the same boat in shabby condition. Some owners build in negotiation...

Re: Ft. Lauderdale anchoring or mooring field

I think the Las Olas marina has no facilities at all right now. There is construction going on, the city has contracted with Suntex (I think), and a new and luxurious marina is going in. Or so I...
