Removed my post since I suppose I don't know what I'm talking about. Don't let me lead you astray.

Re: Bermuda telecommuting / coffee shops?

Thank you for the feedback, everyone

Jim, appreciate the info. Noisy is just fine, the “meetings” are generally informal, just a way to look at some stuff on a screen with people.
I don’t...

Bermuda telecommuting / coffee shops?

Wondering if anyone has advice on their favorite place to telecommute around St. George's - IE: reliable internet fast enough for the occasional zoom meeting, power outlets, don't mind you hanging...

Re: Raymarine ST-4000+ diagnostics

Zemurray,

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I’ve taken the head unit completely apart and it seems physically okay. No sign of water or burned up components.. Same with the tiller arm.

Re: Raymarine ST-4000+ diagnostics

Gord,

yes, that's the manual i've been following - it looks like the motor in the tiller arm passes the tests (movement, resistance, current draw).

But the manual doesn't really have any advice...

Raymarine ST-4000+ diagnostics

Hi all,

my ST-4000+ gave me some trouble a few months ago - it was intermittently not responding to the control head. I found a loose connection in the boat-side female plug to the tiller unit, so...

Re: Favorite towable spinnaker pole car?

Slug,

thanks for responding. Yes, i use a foreguy and lead the sheets aft. I'd propose that the force vectors from the foreguy don't resolve to a reduction in compression, but an increase. Either...

Favorite towable spinnaker pole car?

Hi all,

I seem to be in the habit of bending the daylights out of ring-style cars.

Admittedly, the problem is user error - I tend to be a bit of a caveman when deploying the pole short handed....

Tide marine strongtrack outside width?

Hi all,

I’m having a new mainsail made, and my sailmaker has convinced me to get a Tides Marine Strongtrack System with it.

The sail is many months on backorder and in the meantime I am...

Re: Danfoss/Isotherm fridge cycling

Richard,

Nice to have you here since you're the authority on these systems :)

It is a standard snap-action mechanical thermostat.

Shorting the C and T terminals does cause the compressor to...

Danfoss/Isotherm fridge cycling

Hi all,

I have a Danfoss/Isotherm air-cooled icebox conversion system, which i think is pretty common. It has worked fine for the 5 years that i've owned the boat, and for a long time before...

Re: Desperate for Brnz. Seacock Help

That does not look like a Wilcox-Crittenden - it looks like a Spartan:

they're still in business and may be able to sell you a new...

Re: Groking the Vesper XB6000 and XB8000 AIS transponders

Nice. I can probably set up a temporary VPN or SSH tunnel or something like that to the Vesper’s network on the boat sometime if that helps.

Pesky mobile. Here's the XML.
Also, it appears that we have the same boat, that's neat.

Re: Groking the Vesper XB6000 and XB8000 AIS transponders

I hope this helps you to grok it in fullness.

I increased the range for alarms in WatchMate to generate some. With no alarms, the response at the alarm URL is just a blank.
