Re: Depth transducer inside hull?

I've done three times on different boats with a cone of silicone. Press and move into place to avoid bubbles. Worked excellent in each install. And would be easy to remove if problematic.

Re: What is the best strategy for rejuvenating my mainsheet cars?

Jet the traveler car bearings with liberal amounts of fresh water. Lubricate with Harken One Drop, which is made specifically for traveler and jib car bearings.

Re: Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust (2015) - Cooling issue

Had two sets of Yamaha 9.9s on our previous Seawind cat. The original 9.9s were when it was a charter, so you know they were never flushed. A Yamaha mechanic recommended using The Works toilet bowl...

Re: Pickling RO watermaker - Sodium Metabisulphite vs Potassium Metabisulphite

JT (Tellie) has always recommended to us to pickle with propylene glycol, the Pink stuff in a jug that we purchase from West Marine. We installed a new Spectra 150D in 2015, used in Bahamas in...

Re: Boat and Dinghy Protection from Chain Rodes

BRNKL by Barnacle Systems. Security system. Laser sensors that extend a beam across the cockpit. When someone boards - which they will need to do to access the dinghy hanging high in the davits -...

Re: Tilia Foodsaver (vacuum pack/heat seal)

We typically take two month cruises to the Bahamas. We buy the family packs of chicken, steaks, etc., at Sams Club, and divide them into single meals and freeze using a FoodSaver. This allows us to...

Re: Cruising the US from a Trailer Sailor

We've owned two Corsair tris. Neither took a wide ramp, as you launch the boat still folded on the trailer, and unfold on the water. I could rig and raise the mast on both the 24 and the 28R by...

Re: Increasing charging rate from mass combi

Thanks. That's what I remembered. Our Honda 2200 going thru a 100 amp Mass Combi maxed out at 90 amps bulk charge on MLI (Mastervolt LiFeP04) battery.

Re: Marriage Savers - do you use them?

Having her winch (electric) me up the main halyard, stop to check the rigging, really nice to talk calmly into headset on when to stop and start again. She needs to be watching winch, not looking up...

Re: Marriage Savers - do you use them?

How old are yours? We have the SPH10-10 set. Like I said, used only about 8 months in 3.5 years, and having problems. Am reluctant to buy another set if this is expected life.

Re: Marriage Savers - do you use them?

Yes, we use them and love them. Purchased a set at the Annapolis Boat Show in late 2018. Used them in 2019 and 2022 cruising seasons (4 months), but otherwise sat stored in the house. ...

Re: Increasing charging rate from mass combi

Yep, when we are motoring, we have a DC-to-DC charger moving amps from the start battery to the Mastervolt LiFePo4 (MLI) battery, at the same time the Solar ChargeMaster is also sending amps to the...

Re: Increasing charging rate from mass combi

Ok, incoming stupid question. You have a 1600-watt generator putting out AC amps to a MassCombi charger putting out DC amps into your lithium battery. Is your MassCombi a 60 amp model (because mine...

Re: New entry level catamaran from Lagoon, FP and R&C?

Hmmm, I guess I missed the Lagoon purchase. Seem to remember just a few years back you sold a Corsair, and were looking for something bigger. And only galley up. Thought all that time you were...

Re: New entry level catamaran from Lagoon, FP and R&C?

At this rate, when you find the boat that checks all the boxes, you'll be too old to use it.

Re: New entry level catamaran from Lagoon, FP and R&C?

They are heavy, because each has a glass pane in them. That said, there are a few owners that are not fans of the rope-raised system, and posted that they lift by hand and then lock up with the...

Re: New entry level catamaran from Lagoon, FP and R&C?

Uh, I think the tiller would lose a lot of buyers. But we can agree on not liking the rear exposed helms. Even though I think the 1600 has them.

And every boat is a compromise. My personal...

Re: Boat listing price vs offer vs actual sale price

Our previous catamaran sold in early 2018 at $178k asking price, about a month after listing, and had another person in line to buy it if the first person backed out. (Was a day late!) It was...
