Page Description: Skipper Steve & Admiral Dorothy are adventuring aboard "Adagio", their 52-ft blue water catamaran. Built by Allan Legge Boatbuilders of Opua, NZ, her design team is comprised of: Morrelli & Melvin Design & Engineering (Newport Beach, CA), Carl Schumacher, N.A (Alameda, CA), and Hughes Group Architects (Sterling, VA). Adagio was launched July, 2000 Opua, New Zealand. Since then she has enjoyed more than 130,000 nm of Pacific cruising. In 2004 Adagio crossed the Pacific the "wrong way", from Tasmania to New Zealand to Tahiti to Hawaii to Alaska. She cruised Alaska and British Columbia until November 2009 when she sailed south to San Francisco. At the end of June 2010 Adagio sailed for New Caledonia with a brief stop in Hawaii. We spent the southern summer catching up on boat repairs in New Zealand, then New Caledonia in June 2010, to MacKay Australia in August, finishing up 2010 passages with our fifth Bass Strait crossing to Hobart in November. That completed our first Pacific Circle - our log entry said "DAY 5: Landfall Hobart (13,706nm logged San Francisco to Hobart)". Back in our berth at the Royal Yacht Club Tasmania we were all set to enjoy another fabulous Hobart Summer Festival. In May 2012 we decided to meet up with friends in New Caledonia for a six-month cruise, then to New Zealand November 2012 for intensive refit work. This will prepare ADAGIO for our second Pacific Circle. We plan to head for Alaska about May 2014. Dispatches, cruise reports and technical information can be found at our Adagio Journal Website, or just click the Blog menu above. Email Steve and Dorothy!
