Re: Lagoon 380 World Cruising Gear in France or Australia

Monte, I bought a Jordan Series Drogue and then got thinking that there is NO WHERE to attach it to the boat. Transom cleats would pull out, aft corner cleats won't work because the stantions are in the way. I added mooring bitts to both aft corners of the deck, with a clear path back to the winches on the salon top. Pictures of installation are posted on the Lagoon Owner's Site, under "I Dream of Jeanne". Hope you enjoy your new boat, I've had my 380 for 6 years and Love it!!

Re: Lagoon 380 World Cruising Gear in France or Australia

great to know , thanks for the info!
lots of informative pics on your site. I expected issues with the drogue anchoring points, just wasn't sure where or how the best way to attach would be. I was considering some turning blocks shackled to a pad eye where you have your mooring bits then running the bridle lines forward to strong points or the winches.
Either way its something Id like to have on board for obvious safety reasons and it needs to be easily deployable, securely fastened and recoverable.
Ill revisit your pictures no doubt during fit out

Re: Lagoon 380 World Cruising Gear in France or Australia

Monte,

The drogue bridle is heavy 1"+ rope, so it might be a challenge or very expensive finding turning blocks that will handle that diameter rope. My plan to recover the drogue, is to tie a retrieving rope to the bridle and winch it in. Haven't used or deployed the drogue yet, but right now I only do coastal cruising and cross to the Bahamas.

I resined in a wood dowel to hold a rope spool, into the starboard, forward locker to store the Jordan series drogue. Pictures of the install on the Yahoo Owner's site under I Dream of Jeanne.

I believe that the one and only Lagoon 380 that has flipped in heavy seas, would have made it with the Jordan Series Drogue.

UK is not that far away - with a list like that would be very surprised if you could not cut a deal, including delivery.

Or pop around the corner to Jersey and buy VAT Free, albeit most things won't be available off the shelf - but either allow time for a Vendor to order or arrange delivery whilst here yourself.

Slight PITA nowadays is the local Sales Tax (GST) of 5% - but if the goods coming in are (genuinely) for export then will be able to reclaim the GST....albeit I have no idea how!, but over here the paperwork side of life not so bad.

Hi Monte,

I'm considering buying a boat out of charter and may eventually want to purchase much of what you're getting. Do you have a budget for this stuff that you wouldn't mind sharing?
