I havent lived on a boat for long time. I have a RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and what I am doing is chartering 50-54 foot monohull yachts for 4-5 weeks a year and sail with friends sharing costs. I am the skipper and usually have another friend as second skipper (contractually is required but also more comfortable) and have a cook too.
I have done this 3 times now mainly in Greece (windy Cyclades and Dodecanesos) and Sardinia July-August.
I also sailed in the archipelago of Stockholm in Sweden in a 23 foot monohull very basic sailing yacht around 2009,no gps,paper charts,radio weather forecast.
My plan is to buy a new sailing yacht, so maintenance might be less the first years, live on board and charter it with skipper as a business to get the investment back until I phase out that large yacht and do something else. I am building a business plan as accurate as possible to make it economically feasible and realistic in a 10 year period (I am 45 and plan to buy in 2 years).
