Hello Richard Kollmann, The information you have given is truly amazing. I wish I could buy your current book, but it is not available online. Do you have any suggestions. I would be glad to pay for a download copy as well. Regardless, I so thank you for all that you have already done, Jeff

    Hi Richard
I still have your book and it has a ton of miles on it. I originally built a double sided dual cold plate system with water cooling on the engine and 12v systems with your book. That was back in 1998. But I had rebuilt the box with white ice chest foam in Mazatlan. I’m simplifying lot of maintenance.
Then I got a isotherm 2351 on defender sale. I’m gutting the box and reinsulating before I install it.
    Couple questions.
    1. Pink or blue foam? Pink is a little less R value, but more water resistant than blue?. Am I correct?
    2. If the box is 5 cubic foot with inside surface area of 17.94 sq. Ft. Will 5 inches of insulation work? Blue is R6.6/in. Pink I R5/in. ?
Correct me if I’m wrong. It’s been a long time since I’ve done this. Your book survived a pretty good soaking coming back from Panama.
I wish isotherm would give you a capacity for their equipment.

    Thanks for the awesome read

    Andy

Richard, Hello and thank you for your generous support. It has helped many of us. Hoping to repay your generosity, and to DIY my own system I have sent check #2366 in the amount of $54 to your home location as requested. I had ordered your DIY book 45 days ago. I have not received any book or any acknowledgement of funds received. I have emailed you twice asking for a response. Nothing. I hoping you are in good health and will respond here, or to my emails. Thank you//Alan

Rich i have an Adler Barber cold machine which i had in storage for about 20 years was running when it went in storage. pulled it out last year assembled it bench tested it and would start run 5 to 10 sec. and stop checked it with out the fan same. the high side seams to start to cool but it's hard to tell. just wondering if it was the module. Four Pin Danfoss 12 volt Module Model number 102N3111 Used only on BD2 and BD2.5 compressors. i have searched high and low looking for a used one with no luck just to see if that was the problem. located a new 0ne but way to expensive just to see if that is the problem. Does this sound like that's the problem. Also if it is would you know where i can find a used one Thanks Dennis

Hi Richard, I just saw your reply!
I'm sorry I didn't get back to you but I must have missed an alert somewhere. I only found it now as I was looking for an old post of mine. I'm very happy to have a look if you want? I did notice some issues with the website as I was looking for the slide show and the forum.

    My email address is
sjw @ mapleton.net.au (without the spaces around the 'at' symbol) if you would like to discuss.

No charge. I can't promise anything but I'll give it a crack with your permission.
    Cheers Stephen

Hi Richard, I know you don't publish any more. Think last time I tried you were taking personal checks, but that wasn't going to work from Aus. is there something we can work out, how about a PDF Version. My email is pawleyd at gmail.com

Hi Richard, I had to leave the boat, in the Bahamas, to return home without any further progress. I am going again July 29th and have acquired a new gauge set, pump, and scale to weight refrigerant, and refrigerant can adapter/valve. My intent is to put the pump on for several hours to hopefully insure the system is clean and then add the proper amount of refrigerant. I will check for leaks before pumping it down.

I have a new filter/dryer but unless I can find a competent refer guy to sweet the old one off and solder the new one on I feel I will need to skip that step and cross my fingers that the filter/dryer is OK. Based on your advise I am concerned that the odds that I could cause further contamination cases me pause anyway.

If you would be willing to give me step by step directions I would appreciate it very much. Unfortunatly I can only saty on the boat a few days because my wife is fighting an illness so I can't be gone from home for very long.

    Best regards, Jeff
