    Hi

I saw on this forum post "Buying a boat in Holland", that you bought a Contessa remotely in Holland, from Australia a couple of years ago. You mention you did that without going over there.

I am in exactly the same position, I am in Australia and now with covid I cannot go, but I would still like to buy a boat in Holland.

My situation is a different in the sense that I have a Belgian passport so in principle I can register the boat as a Belgian citizen. I am also dealing directly with the owner and not with a broker. Strangely, in Holland, it seems the legal agreement is solely the contract and there is no registration as the new owner with a government body? Any advice regarding the legalities involved and the mechanics of paying a deposit, transfers of funds, and any pitfalls as to your experience would be most welcome.

    Thanks

    Hugo

John, I'm in. I can't let this go by, I've waited too long and know I won't have an opportunity like this again plus will regret it if I let this opportunity go by. Let me know what you need for a deposit and where to send it along with any other info I will need to know. I am still hoping to speak with Steve, the gentleman looking after her to get any pictures and other information. I think I am also going to feel around perhaps on Cruiser's forum for a crew member to accompany me across. I can't believe I'm actually doing this, it's a life's dream to do a Transatlantic. I'm not certain exactly how to proceed but I'm sure this will eventually fall into place and I'm glad to have you as a resource. By the way, Steve can reach me at 1-316-323-0700 or I can call him. My personal email is mike dot budnicki at gmail dot com
