Ahoy my Gurus! Read and watched pretty much all you have produced. Just purchased a fiberglass replica of Seraffyn, 8,900 lbs 24’, and brought her home for a repair & rebuild. Bout the only differences are the main sheet traveler is on the coach roof and there is a Diesel engine where your bathtub was. The diesel is being replaced with an electric motor though, there is an enclosed head and her mast is aluminum. The Self Sufficient Sailor, (got the “revised and expanded edition” to go with my original!- Great work!) had much to do with my choice of vessel and I wish to thank you for sharing the knowledge gleaned from the amazing lives you have led! Hope to be following/crossing your wake next year!

Hi Lin & Larry! Thank-you for sharing your knowledge and cruising lives with us. You two are "Top Shelf"!

Hi Lin and Larry. This is very sensible advice which, is more pertinent than many of the new laws that have been forced upon us in recent years (yet another money making device) since you were last in Knysna. I remember well your arrival into the lagoon through the famous 'Heads', (not to mention a few of the evenings spent at the bar in the club).
    All the best.

Hi Lin and Larry. I would like to reproduce your list from the "Cost Conscious Cruiser" Pages 69-72, as a basic essentials to cruising list in a new thread. You of course will be credited as the source. The goal of the tread will be to eliminate as many things as possible from the essentials list, to try to see what some people are really cruising on. Please see my "The philosophy of sailing simply" thread to see what we are up to. I will respect at all times what you have done, I just want to see if we can make cruising any simpler, with using an already simple system ( your boat ) as a starting point.
    Sincerely,
    Mark Gillis MD (newt)
