I am restoring a Westsail 42 in Panama City. I truly admire what you have done with your boat.

if it was me I would use alaska yellow cedar with darker trim. BTY I think we might be in the same fb group headed by zee, what kind of boat?

Hey great, thanks for the info. I was looking around me wondering how I was going to renew the teak in my boat. It's a 30 year old boat with an interior that was never completely finished. There is quite a bit of nice teak. But with the difficulty in finding teak, not to mention the cost of it, I decided that where I need solid teak, I would re-use the original and where possible, I would use plywood backed mahogany veneer with a teak finish. It's working out well so far but the biggest challenge would be to match the new with the old. Now it loos like you may have given me the answer and for that I thank you very kindly.
I also have a deck to repaint but have decided to use kiwi grip. I hope to get that done this summer or my deck could end up with moisture issues.
Better go now, much work to do.

    Ciao for Nao!

So how tough was the teak resto using h20/ammonia/tide? Congrats on the resto, are you doing it all on your own?

    Biography
Hi. My name is Laura. I have lived in the Ft Myers Fl area since 2001. I am from NJ. I have wanted a sailboat my whole life and just bought one in April. By the way...naming the vessel after myself was not an act of vanity...rather ingenuity i think...see...when i bought the boat i asked if it had a name. The previous owner said he never named her because traditionally you name the boat after your true love and he never had a true love... : ( soooo..... i said i know....then i will name her after myself and when i meet my true love i will give him my boat and let him take care of the maintenance! He said i was a genius....hey...can't argue with genius! Lol
