01-06-2017 05:16zenithboy88Hi Grant,
my tartan 34c is a 1970, hull number is 100 something. I bought it in Erie ,Pa in 2014. it's a nice solid boat kept in the original owners family til I bought it.
I put in a new shore power system last year. also I had the marina drop the rudder and replace lower bearing as there was a lot of play. last year the atomic 4 started running on 2 cylinders, haha believe it or not it would start right up and sound good, it just bogged down over 5 knots. so I pulled the head and found #1 exhaust valve stuck open. I was able to free up, now putting back together, going back in water june 12th Patrick -

Thanks for your offer of the blue jackets manual.
My cousin just sent me a bicentennial blue jackets manual, that post dates my tour. It still only has two knots in it. If I were you and, you can get the library to take it, give it to them. I already have too much stuff that will interfere with returning to a cruising life

11-05-2012 04:30risermanThank you for your help,I think your advise was very good, before I spend 50 to 100 k I need to do a considerable amount of research,I owned powerboats for years on a freswater lake ,but I think ocean sailing will be quite different.
