Thank you Carliane, same for me, though I haven't bought any scuba gear yet here, but owning a boat sort of makes it a must.. No more cave diving for now.. I just can't do it all at the same time, and it is very physically demanding as you know. In 2-3 years I plan on leaving for a long cruise, where, I haven't decided yet, probably around the Mediterranean first then through Gibraltar, then who knows...
    Take care :-)

What a small world. Do you know Hervé Deschamps? He is another Frenchman I did some diving with who did dive a bit with the WKPP. I don't cave dive anymore, but I started sailing in 2015. Now I live in France. I was mostly diving around the Branford area, Little River, Ginnie Springs, Wayne's World, Hospital Hole, and many other around central Florida. Losing that boat was hard. I couldn't watch sailing videos anymore for three years after that. Now I have a new boat and things are looking better. I miss Florida though! Do you still cave dive? Still in Florida?
    Have a great day,
    Gil.

Hello. Just curious, did you cave-dive in Florida? Gainsville area or up north, WKPP...? Around what year? I did a lot of cave diving around 2000, Little River, Branford area, Ginnie Springs, etc...

Thank you gamayun for the kind and sensible words! Didn’t mean to act as a moral police here, just wanted us all to stop for a second, so we could get back to being kind and civilized.

Well, I feel privileged to go sailing in the middle of office hours. Almost no wind at all, barely enough for my asymmetric not to collapse. Couldn’t care less. Caught a small cod, so in an hour or so it’s movie night and fish soup. Reminds me why my boat is called bliss. Take care!

Yep - full trust in the boat is what I don't have yet... because I can't see every square inch of her interior hull... or know the kids names of the welder that did my through hulls... LOL... a little of a control freak in that regard.... but I'm getting there!
Miss being back in the PNW - wish you well & thanks for the welcome so loooong ago. Just figuring out to use CF as social these days, as well as emergency wtf info.

    Re: Into the Abyss....
Welcome! I did the same on a 38' boat. Take baby steps, but try to stay one step ahead of maintenance issues. You have to have full trust in your boat!

    Biography
Grew up on the Gulf Coast of Florida, then spent 5 years in DC before moving to the San Francisco area. I'm a single woman and bought a 38-ft sloop in January 2013. Named her Kynntana, which was my mother's stage name (she was an acrobat and trapeze artist). The name means 'star' in Malagasy. I did the Singlehanded TransPacific race in 2018 and then a fully crewed Pacific Cup in 2021. I also have a Newport 20 (another Gary Mull design) that is mostly used for day sailing/racing in the Oakland Estuary. Racing is fun but I enjoy the adventure more than trying to get somewhere fast. My plan for retirement is to cruise the world with no plan at all.
