I am moving towards a purchase of a cat in Malaysia. There is no broker involved. The owner will fly in from NZ for the inspection at the haul out point (Kudat). He has stated he will bring a bill of sale on hand and ships paperwork for registration. He will also provide an document of no encumbrances or liens. The boat is registered in Lankgawi with the international yacht registry.
I've already called one surveyor who is loaded up and doesn't want to fly out to East Malaysia.
I have already made one trip to visit the vessel, so I am familiar with it.
At this point in time I'm trying to make sure that I have all of my bases covered.
I am a producer for Nat Geo currently developing a show on self sustainable boaters/sailors who live life on the hook. After reading your blog posts here - I'd love to chat with you when you have a second.

Hi Doodles, I can't find the comment that I was referring to regaring Social Security income. The post commented that Social Security is a government benefit and the proceeds should be spent in the US. My point was that I didn't regard SS income as a benefit as I have been paying into the SS fund for 40 years. I will soon start collecting a refund of my payments.
Thanks for writing back, Doodles. I'm an occassional user, too, so I didn't see your message until now. I think I know what you are talking about with the tape and clips. I appreciate your response!
I hope I'm doing this correctly. We are in the process of buying a Gulfstar sailboat. I like your porthole curtains on the shock cords. They look refined. It doesn't look like they are "gathered" on the cords. Would you please tell me how they are attached? Thanks!
