    Biography
    Growing up hiking and canoeing in the Southern Appalachians, I came to Eastern Carolina after college. In business for myself for years, I was taught to sail small boats in Bogue Sound by a cousin of my wife. Sequoyah is my first cruiser and the first time I have handled a larger boat but for a few brief occasions at the helm of friends'. It certainly is the first time I have maintained one, so it's a learning curve with me still near the bottom of it. Now a widower, when not sailing or working on the boat I write independently for various publications, most of it about politics. I still have a house in a small city a couple of hours from my marina but look forward to cruising more and mowing grass less over the next couple of years.
