An AB resident can buy a boat in BC but take possesion in US waters and then pay no taxes. Import a boat and you'll have to pay GST at the border. When you register the boat you have to make the sales paperwork is in order though. Record the lat/long where you take possesion for one thing and be sure of thre title.

I will finally buy a boat next year, probably from outside our canadian borders. Seems to me if I use an Alberta address i would not have to pay the new HST or "luxury" tax in BC and would only pay the 5% GST in Alberta. Any advise?
