Ummm, This poll is a litle inaccurate now. It needs the 10 cats to be reduced to 9. The fell over board increased by one and no to the rescue part. It won't allow me to update my polling.

We have a cat and he did go overboard...
swam up to the dock and hid underneath yowling until I rescued him!

We also have 3 cockatoos and 1 grumpy timneh african grey and they are not allowed anywhere outside.

Yeah. You'll want to keep them birds indoors. Especially, if you plan to travel overseas. Say Europe or the Med areas. Maybe even Asia. Those poor birds could get exposed to bird flu. And then give it you?

Got to be very careful?

Best pet on a boat just has to be BEACH WORMS.Think about it,you dont have to name them -they wouldnt come anyway!They dont get sea-sick-how would you know anyway!And anytime ya put them overboard,they will more than likely bring dinner onboard.Plus 7 out of every10 wont poo on ya deck,well,thats what Ive been told.

Ummm, A pet Rock. That has to be the ultimate. Although it's going to need a life jacket. OK then, what about pumice. Won't need the life jackt. Yep that's it. Pet Pumice.

Voted on Pet Poll. Should have added 3 cats to the total.

We have 3 cats - Butterball is 18
Monkey is 3
Little Kitty is 1.5

All have adjusted to being onboard kitties. Butterball has to be placed up on deck but the other two climb up the steps and run around the deck everyday.

We have to brush more than normal due to the hair output that could take over the boat if we let it.

Cats are without major problems, no trips to shore and they love riding in the dinghy. They love sailing and the engine doesn't seem to scare them if they are up. They don't like the engine if they are in the cabin.

Monkey and Little Kitty have fallen overboard. We had bought a huge fish net scoop and just netted them back onboard. They licked themselves and acted like it was everyone else's fault that it happened.

We love Cats on Board!

We have wonderful times with two yellow labs that have now become quite good sea dogs.

For all of those who are discouraged by how their dogs take to boats these two have come a long way! About two years ago I bought my present boat and found a slip for it. The first day the dogs were on the dock they would just freeze in one place and not want to move. What I did then was on a regular basis I would bring them to the dock and let them be there for a while. Each time with treats and reassurance we would go further out on the dock and closer to the boat. Eventually I was able to get them onto the boat and then down below.

To make a long story short they now act like they own the boat and regularly patrol the dock for sea gulls and herons. They now eagerly try to get out of the car when we turn into the marina parking lot and race me to see who can get up the gangway first on to the boat. They watch for seals to bark at whenever we go by any buoys and are totally at ease on the boat. Fortunatley I have never seen any sign of sea sickness but if it is rough I will usually give them some Dramamine!

While our cat has given many hours of entertainment, and no dog that values his fur will even approach the boat, I second the pet rock thing. In fact, we have a whole heard of them. My wife likes to collect rocks wherever we go. I need removable balast to accomodate

. I had to buy a smaller truck when we moved on the boat, so I could limit her to a few hundred rocks per trip when we would go camping

I think she is stocking up to build a castle when we retire.

I think a pet alligator, would be cool to have as a pet?

They would serve mostly as my guard dog, so no one would board your boat. Even terroists wouls crap their pants if they seen one onboard!!

The only negative is having to feed one onboard your boat?
