Clara and Ducky (parrots) are Home !

Clara and Ducky are officially on board! Kitty got here a few days ago but I had to finish preparations for the birds. They have collapsible carriers for in the cabin and at night but will reside primarily in the cockpit area while we are docked. They have been cage free for years and have their own personal perches on the benches and shade. Unsafe areas are blocked off with commercial bird barriers (pictured) their wings are clipped and we have nets hanging over each side they have been conditioned to climb up in case somebody falls into the drink. Both stayed on the boat alot when she was dry to get acclimated to her so now just the water movement is different to them. I am sure there will be many interesting stories to come. (photos taken through the cabin door window)

Tabasco (Severe Macaw) has been cruising with me for years..... in fact in one unusually rough period (divorce) we lived aboard a 28' power boat FOR 7 YEARS! They are good companions. Do your research if you plan on leaving US waters... CITES is a pain in the ass!

Ya I know about CITEs I am the manager of a vet clinic so help import/export lots of pets and parrots are very difficult. However since we don't even really know how to sail yet I suspect our travels will be pretty limited for the time being

Sooo Clara screamed last night and this morning obviously stressed since she is normally very quiet for a macaw...
Ducky got over heated and had to be placed into a crate in the cabin not sure if it was stress or the heat or both.
Ducky is fine this evening here are some pics of her
