Honestly I don't know if there is even a real difference other than price
As far as the antibiotics I don't know about fish but there is little difference between human and canine antibiotics except fda cert. and price.

Re: Prepper Boat Thread

On Amazon all the blood clotters for dogs say not to use for large wounds. Here's a video showing how to use blood clotters. I highly recommend his channel for first aid. He also discusses using fish antibiotics in several videos.

PS. He's a prepper (not Doomsday prepper)

The "standards" for animals are better than for humans.

Re: Prepper Boat Thread

Here's a video( from my favorite YouTube prepper. Everyday prepper not Doomsday prepper) of using a simbo vacuum sealer and a hair straightener with mylar bags. They do sell a model with a canister so that things like flour or liquids won't get sucked up into the pump. Also I would not have cut the top of the mylar bag off, just seal it and stuff it in the five gallon bucket and when it comes time to open it you have more room to reseal. Also he should have wiped the inside of the mylar bag where it seals with a damp paper towel and dried it off to remove any dust from the flour. https://youtu.be/aGyZT5hTLcc and one more edit, I would also use the hair straightener after the simbo sealed it to get a more positive seal. Okay one more edit I don't know if the link I gave allows people to look at the comments but one of the comments was to take a mylar bag and put a flashlight in it in a dark room and you can see if there's any pin holes in it.

There are a lot of excellent comments under that video including using a Harbor Freight air conditioner vacuum and a tubeless type Tire valve to seal containers.

Distillation is simple but it took 2 hours to get 16 ounces. Also most people think distillation makes pure water but many chemicals will not be boiled off, and may even be concentrated

The thing that scares me about distilling alcohol is the first shot or two that come out are poisonous. I also hear it makes old men Whistle.:-)

Re: Prepper Boat Thread

I would think that first aid equipment should be high on a list. I found a large first aid kit at a Costco Business Center for, I think, about $50. It seems about six times as big as regular first aid kits I have bought. Why such a large kit? If the SHTF, it may not self correct for a very long time.

First Aid you say? Well...it is a rare time when I don't have a few scabs on my hands and arms.

As for anti-biotics, that subject gets a bit complicated pretty fast. It was also covered in recent posts.

Is prepping nuts? That is what government officials would like the public to think. While those same government officials steer us down the exact same path that many, many other extinct civilizations took. We never learn from history, we prefer to repeat it.

Since your using electricity to do the distilling, there are commercial rigs that do that.
Last one I had I got from Sears, looked like a tea picture, had a fan to cool the coil and dripped the water through an activated charcoal filter.
