Looking for cheap(er) wintering in the med, any ideas??

Hi all,

My family and I are looking for a place to store our 49ft catamaran from mid October until we can next get to the mediterranean - probably not until May 2014 - does anyone know of a good marina which isnt insanely expensive?! Ideally we'd get it out of the water, but dont have to. Looking for east coast of Spain, south France or the top west of Italy ideally.. Port Ginesta seems to be the best I can find so far, but at 1000 euro per month its still on the costly side - esp since we're paying with the NZ dollar! Many thanks

Have you looked at Greece? Generally cheaper than the western med and not that much further to go

We were talking to one guy who usually hauls out at Port Napoleon. He said it wasn't expensive, but not the cheapest. However, there was good security and he's been happy with them over the last few years.

We know that Rodrigues Yachts near Cannes does a reasonable price haul out for cats, but have no idea about their long term storage rates.

If you do end up finding something in this area, could you please post back to this thread? Thanks in advance!

Try Navy Service, neighbour of "Port Napoleon" - ask for Phillippe Froment.

Greece nowadays might be different - moneyproblems hit the yachtmarket first ......
