Unreal Video

Has anyone else seen this video? I admire this guys courage and willingness to get out there, although his seamanship skills are a little lacking. He does say near the end of the video that he has only been sailing about 3 months. It scared the crap out of me when he wrapped the jib sheet around his hook and just held onto it. I'm glad it wasn't gusty that day.

Now there's a cool Dude!! Love the 'left and right' thing!!!

And there's a guy I'd never like to tell "never wrap the rope around your hand, you might lose it..."

Re: Unreal video

He's sure expending a lot of energy. Maybe that's why God makes young people that lack knowledge in a lot better shape than us old farts. Bless him and his ambition though. I don't work that hard on a 20 foot, 400 pound catamaran with 250 feet of sail in 25 knots.

Re: Unreal video

Great video!
I know that guy. Not personally, but if you love sailing you know that guy. I especially like the pronounced exhale once the sails are up. It’s a mix of anxiety and exaltation. Sweet!

You just have to drop in and say hi, or leave a note! He's well cool!

Re: Unreal video

Well, he had the right spirit and he seemed to be having fun. But as someone said, good thing it was light wind and flat water.

He did manage to pick up his dinghy in good style.

Re: Unreal video

Obviously he is not sailing solo, as somebody is taking the video for him... So instead of filming why not give him a hand?

Thumbs up Re: Unreal Video

Outstanding.

Thanks for posting that video.

Yea, I could criticize this or that... but frankly I think there is enough ney-sayers, armchair sailors, and what-not to do that...

... I see this guy... let's admit he is ALL over that boat. No slacking, no making excuses, just a lot of heart and action...

As for the fact that there was another person onboard.. asking why they did not help... I am glad they let him show that he could do it for himself...

I'll tell you, I would buy that guy a cool beverage and it would be a privilege to do so.

Re: Unreal Video

Yeah, I was getting exhausted just watching him run all over that boat. Still he got it going. Pretty good for three months experience and having the hook. While I like my 30 foot boat reminded me of when I had a much smaller boat but, still enjoyed my sails. Have to agree that I still would not want to be docked next to him I cringed everytime he dinged it. But I'm sure he will get better. Still got to tip my hat to him.
