Passage from SW FL to Belize

What is the best winter/spring passage from FT Myers to Belize and on south?

What's your criteria for "best"?

The most common route is first to Isla Mujeres and then to Belize. Optionally stopping in at some of the bays on the Mexican coast.

Less common route is Bahamas-Windward Passage-Jamaica-Belize. Alternatively to Cayman Islands or Bay Islands after Jamaica, then onto Belize.

Spring will give you more stable weather since strong winter fronts do push down to Belize.
