Please note: MY SPLICES HAVE NEVER PULLED OUT.
And you should have seen the strain that was put on those mooring lines and the splices.

I fully agree with your sentiments and as I said in a previous reply I am not going to repair the anchor rode as at 85 metres plus chain it will do for now. I just don't like the idea of not being able to make the splice.
