Re: Solo Sailor Sailing and Looking in Carib

Hey there, Laurel! Just say hi whenever you see other Prouts in your anchorages -- one of them will be us, and we're a friendly family who will feed you dinner and sundowners :-) In our travels, we have run into a lot more men who want to sail and can't find a woman willing to go do that than women in the same position -- but that said, there's also the "command and control" issue. Being the owner and captain, you'll need to find someone who is OK with that but still substantial and trustworthy, not just a blowing reed willing to "go along" with anything. You'll find on this site that there are other women captains who have had a little trouble in this regard. Just enjoy the world and I'll be hoping a wonderful "at liberty" sailing partner is cosmically steered to cross your hawse, in a good way :-)

Could You be more specific? I would love to be cruising, however I would have to find work, as I am not retired or have regular other income.

I am very handy, and can do paint, fiberglass, some rigging, and I am a really mechanically experienced guy.

I also have other skills.

I am overweight and close to 50 yrs old. Just being Honest here.

I really don't want to be anyones boss either, but I can be in charge when I am supposed to be.
The best job(favorite) I ever had was deckhand on a tug, too bad they only paid with hot checks.

Hello Laurel - Prouts are pretty easy to spot - say hello when you see our old Snowgoose 35 - we hope to be headed south in 2 weeks.
