Retread

Guess I probably more of a retread than a total newbie. I had taken about 10 years away, before I took a bareboat charter out of Road Town Tortola BVI about 45 days ago. Think I was bitten, and have not stopped "dreaming and scheming" on how to jump or ease back into more active cruising.

While I have done day-sail in many parts of the world due to the travel that my former job fested on me, my main cruising was in a 26' sloop out of the Central Florida area.. Titusville/ Cape Canaveral/ Cocoa area and occasionally down to the Keys both inside and outside. Spend many long weekends just gunkholing the Indian and Banana rivers from Cocoa to Melbourne Florida and a few charters in larger sail boats out of Miami for slow Keys cruises with friends. The Tortola trip really reminded me of what I had missed since I moved to the Panhandle area of Florida at Panama City.

Now doing all the math and pre planning on picking up a boat to do more cruising for a couple of months at a time in the Virgin Islands and on down the chain over the next two years or so. I'll be asking for some inputs to make a "Reality Check" on my thoughts/ plans and dreams.

Reality Check is actually an off take of my present Job. I am the broker for Realty Check Real Estate Services, Inc in Panama City. I enjoy it but often spend far too much time at it when I should be thinking about having more down time. Very Early 60's and unattached so I have the ability to execute some of my "dreams" with out as much difficulty as some may have, but I'll be looking for some good input from those of you with more recent experience and better experiences in the areas I'll be looking at for the next several years.

Great site and look forward to learning more.

Aloha Retread,
Welcome aboard!! Hope you enjoy the forum. A lot of us are dreamers and schemers. I was a cruiser and liveaboard many years ago. Now my boat is in my yard under repair and I hope to continue the lifestyle again soon.
Kind Regards,
JohnL
