New Member - San Francisco

Greetings:
After reading the latest posts with the great variety of input, I though it time I signed aboard. I started sailing with my parents when I was 10 in dinghies then a wooden Folkboat (shipped from Denmark). I’ve sailed and raced on San Francisco bay on many boats, commissioned Taiwan-built cruisers, done deliveries from Southern California and Mexico, cruised my 23-foot twin-keeled Westerly throughout the Pacific Northwest and the US East Coast from Texas to Maine and New York Barge Canal. I’ve been living aboard since 1991 and am currently sailing a variety of dinghies and my Columbia 22 while preparing my 30-foot Golden Gate sloop (same as Farallon 29 – full-keel f/g cruising sloop) to head south as soon as I can collect what’s left of Social Security!

It's good to have a sailor come to the Forum with such a comprehensive background. I look forward to reading your contributions to the seemingly endless discussions here of the life aquatic.

There must be a story that goes with your handle, Squeaks - would you care to share it with the group?

When I was 16 I'd ride my Honda 50 to my buddies to go dirt riding. His sister’s boyfriend, Fuzzy (whose claim-to-fame was a steel plate in his head from a hill-climbing accident) started calling me Squeaks as my squeaking front forks would announce my arrival :-)

Welcome aboard!! We'll soon have two International Folkboats in our club. Just took one out yesterday. These are fiberglass but what a joy to sail. Gotta think they are the best design ever for a 26 footer.
Good to have you here and I'm glad someone else is likeminded about it doesn't need to be huge to cruise or liveaboard.
