Hows it going, everyone?

I've been lurking on this forum for while now I thought its about time for me to say, "hello!"

I'm a young Navy guy new to sailing. I recently met two older gentlemen out in Okinawa that have been letting me tag along on the boat and teaching me alot. We usually go out day cruising twice a week but I will be racing with them for the first time at the end of this month.

I have always had the dream of going out to sea. That was the reason I joined the Navy in the first place. But now that I'm actually going sailing my fascination with boats has gone to a whole new level. All I want to do is read and learn more!

Anyway... My name is Nick, and I think I'm a sailaholic.

Welcome!

Make sure to check out: Sail Japan

There is a ton of info about local clubs, marinas, sailing schools and meet and greets for those interested in sailing in Japan. All of that with the added bonus of being in English.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
You're starting out the same way I did. I spent a few years at sea on Navy ships before I actually started to sail. Its been a great life ever since.
There always seems to be an MWR pretty close to the major Navy bases that has a sailing program.
Kind regards,
