Introduction

I've been lurking here for a couple of months and have finally mustered the courage to introduce myself. My name is Susanne. I'm a college instructor who lives in Tennessee with her husband and young son. A few years ago, I spent a month on a tall ship (Tenacious of the Jubilee Sailing Trust) in a journey that went from Southampton to the Canary Islands, and became hooked on sailing. My husband and I are in the process of learning more about sailing, saving our money, and eliminating our debt with the goal of purchasing a boat and cruising in five years. What at first seemed like an impossible goal now seems doable.

I've enjoyed reading the discussions in this forum and look forward to learning more from the people who participate here.

Hi Susanne. That's a very tentative toe in the water. Dive in and ask the questions? Youngsters, novices, it's already been done here in several different ways. You might get the odd bucket of bilge water thrown at you but it's a good way to learn and certainly to get a good understanding so you'll learn quicker on the water. Those tall ships look scary!

Not at all! They're wonderful. The Tenacious is absolutely gorgeous, and the crew was a lot of fun. Crossing the Bay of Biscay was definitely an experience.
