New to the board, just at work and need to think about buying a boat and not being at work....

Here is a question for you guys: whats the cheapest way I can have a 50'+ sailboat and never have to work again? Winning the lottery is not a valid response and neither is robbing a bank.

Winner of the best response gets a wooden boat.

Answer to your question - Run a raffle on the wooden boat at $100.00 each - print 1000 tickets and advertize on as many web sites as possible. _ I don't want the wooden boat - have restored a few already.

Welcome aboard!! You've got a good question there. I've owned wood boats in the past. Lots of work per hour of fun.
Here's your answer. Become a boat broker with an office aboard your 50 footer.
Personally I wouldn't want anything else over 36 but that's just me.

Building a 50' boat would take over 10,000 hours and over $100,000. A used seaworthy boat would probably cost more and possibly require less time. You do the math.
Your question could be "Where can I find the time and money?".
I would suggest that you do things the other way round. Work out what you want to do then decide on the best way to do it.
The best and cheapest boat is no boat.

The best way to have a 50'er is to have a good friend with one. They're not that EZ to SAIL single handed................................._/)
