Hi from sunny San Diego ~ also a question?

We're a Brit/US family with three that like to sail and one that really doesn't (he'll be off to college in a couple of years though and is old enough not to come

We grew up sailing toppers and wayfarers in the UK and have come back to sailing in the last few years. We sail Hobie cats and occasionally charter something bigger. We like the warmer weather and water here but find when it is a cold day it means more space for us as all the local Californians seem to be scared of drizzle! We have a "five year plan" (don't we all!) and would like to buy something bigger for first to learn on (hopefully this year) and then later to travel as empty nesters.

Pleased to meet you!

Edited to ask question... where is the best section of this site to post to ask questions about finding attorneys, brokers etc in my local area?

Hi ScarletO, Welcome to the forum. You certainly are in a great area for sailing. Sorry I can't answer your question. I'm sure others will be able to help in that matter.

Hi Scarlet, and welcome to CF.

In answer to your question, if you make the title to a post descriptive of any questions you have, it doesn't matter too much which forum you post it in. The title will attract attention and perhaps answers. At least that is true for the way in which I follow CF!

Hello, ScarletO,

My go to spot for lawyers would be the Yellow Pages. If one is interested in maritime law, he is likely to note that. Or, ask friends.

Brokers is a more difficult one, although Kjell Kristiansen (sp?) is highly recommended by "zeehag" as a surveyor in that area. A CF member who I believe is a broker is "Happy MDR Sailor" (may be all one word), and he is at Marina Del Rey, in LA.

CF has some members from SD, perhaps one of them will have more info for you.

...AND, welcome aboard CF.

Ann

Hi ScarletO, welcome aboard! I was glad I left cold rainy San Diego in December for dry, sunny Baja. JK ;^).
Loved sailing in California but it was a pretty wet winter I missed. Enjoy your time sailing and on the forums.
