pirate Hi from East Coast Australia/New Zealand

Greetings to all at CF.

I've been a regular reader of these pages for a while but time now to 'Meet and Greet'....

My wife and I have a 28' Northerner on the East Coast of Australia and a 32' Hartley in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. Both are 'works-in-progress' but will be set up for offshore sailing. We are on a four month countdown to retiring to the live-aboard life. We'll be exploring the coasts of both countries until the horizon beckons....

Re: Hi from East Coast Australia/New Zealand

G'Day Freebie, and welcome to CF.

Sounds like you are well on your way to realizing your plans. Will you keep both boats when you retire? Having once been a (involuntary) two boat owner, I can't imagine doing that deliberately! Too many conflicts of interest, too much maintenance, too many headaches. You may be better organized that we were, but it is a hard row to hoe IMO.

Anyway, keep a lookout for Insatiable II as you cruise, and give us a cooee should we be in the same anchorage sometime.

Cheers,

Jim

Re: Hi from East Coast Australia/New Zealand

Thanks Jim - we'll keep a lookout for you....

We will probably keep both boats for the foreseeable future - they are being set up in the 'small and simple' format so maintenance is not that much of a chore. We have family on both sides of the 'ditch' so there is some advantage in having ready accommodation in each country.

I have a habit of reading the posts on CF each lunchtime and a lot of them are really inspiring which makes it really difficult to Knuckle down and get back to work....

Freebie, we fly.....regularly. Liveaboard when in NZ. In fact flying back tomorrow to join the annual pilgrimage up to the Bay and beyond. If you ever spot us over there, come and say G'day

Re: Hi from East Coast Australia/New Zealand

Thanks and Hi OldLessSalty and Timjf! I am currently on a mooring on Pittwater which is a totally different environment to Sydney Harbour and one which I find more suitable to my cruising style.... Having said that, I still think Sydney Harbour is one of the most scenic harbours I have seen.

Re: Hi from East Coast Australia/New Zealand

Hi Again Freebooter,

Pittwater eh... Small world. The boat I am looking at is moored on Pittwater. If I buy it I'll be down there around christmas. I'm kinda hoping that I will be down there for the start of the Sydney Hobart and maybe New Years on the Harbour.
