Welcome Watson. Skiperjohn can help you out with sextant information. He teaches a basic class here in Hawaii and is active in this forum.

Aloha Watson,
Welcome aboard! If you do a search at Cruising and Sailing Search you'll find a lot of good information.

Having grown up on a HUGE lake i learned how to sail on our day sailer. In 2001 I went to the B.V.I.s and took 2 ,one week courses and i learned what the rest of the world called all those things. I was certified as a bareboat skipper and now i can take any sail boat anywhere in the world without a captain and my friends as crew .
The first charter was only 8 weeks after i finished my classes and it was, with out a doubt, the very best week i have spent here on earth !![not that I've been anywhere else !] I started out on my first charter with a brand new [7 weeks old] Benneteau 473 ..what a time ..
If you have any questions please feel free to ask . Thanks for the "Hellos" and greatings !
