Hello from Louisville, KY

Hello everyone. I have never sailed but feel I would find it a very challenging and satisfying hobby. I hope to learn a lot here and maybe even take a sailing school. I have been reading here a while so I don't ask the same question that has already been asked several times. You have an excellent site here, and from what I have read, as with most boards, the people here make it that way. Thanks in advance for making this a good cruising site. From what I have read already you guys are very knowledgeable on the topic and have lots of experience as a group.

Aloha and welcome aboard!
I just returned to Hawaii from a vacation in Lexington.
Hope you enjoy this forum and can get that sailing class soon. It will let you know it you like the sport of sailing and can then reach out to cruising.
kind regards,

Welcome aboard.

Not a lot of big water sailing around Louisville, but we bought our boat while living just north of Lexington so are sympathetic to your situation.

Fair winds,
George

There's some good sailing about 3 hours from you down at the Land between the Lakes.

there is an excellent nearby sailing club, Caverun Sailing Association which does instruction with certified instructors and group trips. Try caverunsailing.org New members are very welcome.

Welcome to the board! I live in Indianapolis, so I'm familiar with what you're about to attempt. BTW, my wife and I looked at a 54 ft. Hunter on Kentucky Lake a couple of months ago (Kentucky Lake is part of the Great Circle loop). You might do well to look in that area for a sailing class (I took mine up on Lake Michigan which is another possibility, but a farther distance to travel).

Fair winds and following seas.
