Hello from Great Lakes Sailing

Hi

My name is Michael Leahy. I live in Toronto, ON. I publish a sailing website [see profile] and over the summer have seen a fair amount of traffic from Cruiser Forums. So ...... it seemed only natural that I would join the community.

I have sailed 4 of the 5 Great Lakes (still to do Michigan). Fell in love with the Lakes the first time I went out on a friend's boat.

Currently between boats, I hope to end that 'condition' within the next few months.

I have browsed CF and really like what I have read and the sense I get of the people behind the posts. I am looking forward to being part of the group.

Fair Winds

Hey Michael...Welcome...I was a Hamiltonian in a former life. Currently on board my HR 35 and anchored out for a few days here in San Francisco.

Re: Hello from Great Lakes Sailing

Welcome Michael. I mostly sail Lake Superior, but have spent some time in Georgian Bay and the North Channel. I love sailing up here. Superior is one of the greatest wilderness cruising grounds anywhere. If the water didn't turn hard for 1/2 the year I may never leave (which we are planning to do next season).

You have a nice website, although I do notice you are missing some ports on Superior's north shore: Wawa, Red Rock and Nipigon. And the info for Marathon is incorrect on a few facts. It's difficult to maintain a site with this much breadth, so I'm not criticizing, just offering some "local knowledge"
