Hello from Georgia

Hi all

I'm new to the board and extremly new to the sport. In fact haven't even attended my first basic sailing class yet. Will be later in the month of Dec; I hope.

I've been a power boater most of my life. Wife and I would like to retire sailing the islands. Power boating the islands seems out of reach and not nearly as peacefull.

Plan is to attend basic, do a little lake sailing, go on a week long course for bareboat certification. Spend a couple years coastal sailing; Florida mostly. If still active in the sport, buy the boat.

Hope to make some friends to get as much sail time as possible. Who know's maybe I'm too old to start this, but gona give it the best I got.

Aloha Jack,
Welcome aboard!! This is a great place to hear sailing topics from all points of view. If you have questions please ask.
Many of us here are sailing instructors of one form or another.
Kind Regards, JohnL

Thanks Skipr

As I'm sure you can tell, I need alot of experiance to pull off my dream retirement. I think starting with basic sailing course is the right place to start. Still a little fuzzy on how I'll get the experiance I'll need from there.

But I am gettng alot of great info from the board so far.

Any recommended sailing schools or one's I shold stay away from ?

Welcome too. As Pat said above, lots of difference from lake to ocean. I am in SSI. Currently, I am sailing out of St. Augustine. Drop me a line, you are welcome to join me. David

Canton

Canton. I figure on learning on Lanire and begin coastal sailing in the spring. Although I frequent Florida for business and scuba diving. Hope to get as much experiance as possible to start this new adventure. Hope I'm not too old to get going. But figure better to have taken the shot than to wish I had

Thank you

That is a great invitation David. We may need to chat sometime and see if we can get together. I'm sure I have much more to learn than I think, but will find out as I go.

SSI ?
