Greetings from the Canadian West Coast

Hi there - Just introducing myself. Have been a live-aboard for 4 years, getting ready to sail south (from the West Coast of Canada) to California, Mexico - and who knows after that... We are very excited! (and at that overwhelmed stage...)

Cheers, K

Re: Greetings from the Canadian West Coast

I wish to thank all of you for the welcome messages. I'm actually surprised and questioning whether this is automated, but I feel good anyway.

I'll put it out there right away, after 30 years in the computer industry, first 8 were programming your banking systems (turn over your ATM card, INTERLINK is my creation sitting on my deck in Stinson Beach drinking Rum and Cokes. But it works!

If this is all about getting women to crew boats owned by losers that can't get them any other way -- I'm not interested. I just love to sail. My mentors kept encouraging me to go further and further. I now have a 200 Ton License. But, I don't think I've ever seen a 200 ton sailboat. I've privileged to sail different parts of the world: Hong Kong, lived in NZ for a year, Australia, inland in Germany, grew up in Chicago (lake Michigan -- brrr).

I'm unemployed right now so what a great time to leave for South America. I'd be on the boat waiting for you. I don't expect pay, and my cpap keeps me from snoring. Cleaned up I ain't 1/2 bad lookin' either ) dbl chin

I'm a tech sales person. Back when computers (big ones) cost millions. Now, game over.
Pass the curry.

Love to share sailing experiences with people who equally appreciate this beautiful planet.

Thanks,
Marty

Also not automated.

I'm new to the group myself and am beginning to feel like the brown shoes worn with a tux. Are there no other stink potters in this group. Did sailing for over 15 years and still love it. Latest adventure - Norwester - is the labor of love that folks talk about. She's a beauty and I love going from point A to point b in her - in a straight line.

Would be interested in hearing from other PNW folks!

Re: Greetings from the Canadian West Coast

Wow! Overwhelmed with joy for all the welcome messages. Ran into a guy at Windworks (off Shilshole) yesterday. He was asking about this forum. I just remembered to check it now and holy moly, I didn't expect the red carpet -- thanks!

Now, no one wants a 57 year old techie so I figure I'll help crew or ... gosh, there has to be something else I know how to do? Oh ya, I know a bit about computers plus I'm W7SNO. Let's chat.

Cheers,
mo

Automated response
Welcome excited being over helmed may be a problem particularly if you are using a 4 year old to get you ready to sail to destination unknown. This message is an automated response to your prior post please do not respond using email or use this message for purposes of tax evasion. Smile devil with nasty job. Cleaning refrigerator. I have to drink the old beer in there first so I can get to the bottom parts.

Re: Greetings from the Canadian West Coast

Holy Moly!

Now, I may be reading this wrong, but I think I'm sailing South this Winter? Zeehag, thank you and correct me if I'm wrong, please. I'm not used to miracles. Still doing exercises to correct "cubicle-back" as I coined it (L4-L5). Think I'll make a batch of grun kohl tonight -- poor people food from winter vegetable.
I am seriously upset about your kitty having feline leukeimia. My best friend Rockets was with me for 15 years.
Answer to your question: heck Yes! There is no place for an old programmer but on the water. I'll find my old TNC for email. Can't wait to send some more QSL cards to the working class.
Thanks,
martyo - W7SNO
