Greenhorn

Please let me introduce myself. I'm Mrbubblemaker, I have just received my very first sailboat, she's a 27' Watkins. I gave one dollar for the ole girl, that's right $1.she floats but of course in need of a major redo. I have zero experience in a sailboat, actually I have never even set foot on a sailboat.. That's about to change...I have been reading, reading, reading everything I can to educate myself on sailing. I've gotta admit we are very excited to get aboard and put mind to matter. Oh I better introduce you to "we".. That would be me and my love, miss Tammy. She is my better half, my right hand, for that matter most of the time she's my both hands and my head lol. Without her I wouldn't be the man I am today. Our boat is docked In the northern Chesapeake bay Maryland. Our plan is to motor the girl all the way to Lake Erie starting in late April or early may.

Re: Greenhorn

Congrats, man. The Watkins 27 is a good boat. Can't be in too bad of shape if you're looking to move it in such short order?

Re: Greenhorn

Laila thanks.. The ole girl floats so that's half the battle. We figure we would rather play in a fixer upper than not sail at all. Time will test my theory, ask me at the end of the season if we feel the same way.

Re: Greenhorn

Stu Jackson she doesn't have an engine at this time. We purchased an all electric motor made by Thunderstuck motors.we haven't received it yet. The motor comes with the complete kit minus batteries of course. I have no idea what was in it before hand but I don't want any fuel engine going back in her.

Re: Greenhorn

Well we arrived in Baltimore Md yesterday for the first look at our new girl. She's amazing. And speaking of amazing, how about this weather here? It's close to 70 degrees today. LOVING IT. We're getting a list put together for what's needed when we come back here next weekend. Since there's no motor in the boat, I think a good engine bay cleaning and painting is the best place to start.
