What did dirt ever do to offend everyone? I grow food in it. These guys look like they are having fun. I don't see the need to come down on them. I am sure all the internet users in the dirty, filthy parts of the world applaud everyone for coming to their defense. It was a silly generalization, no need to burn them at the stake yet.

Obviously, you guys kind of crucified yourselves with the "dirty" comment. Gotta admit it rubbed me the wrong way, too.

I'd highly recommend SV Totem's blog about their time in PNG and Indonesia. They worked hard to research the safest places to go and had a fantastic time. Doesn't mean that you should go too, but it does give a different perspective.

And the rest of you folks who piled on so hard... Maybe we can be just a little extra nice to new folks until we get to know them? Otherwise we scare off all the new members and then its just the crusty old members left! :-)

Sometimes there's entirely too much intolerance and stereotyping here. I'm an old guy, but if this forum was made up of just "old guys", I don't think I'd stick around. We "old guys" need to realize that there is a lot to learn from younger folks who have a whole different outlook.
