Brrr

Hello from freezing Northern Ireland - it's dark, damp, dull and cold. My boat is on the hard, I have a pile of work I want to do and I have a bout of flu. Not happy about this state of affairs, but as the days progress, I will get better, the days will grow longer, the temperature will rise and I will finish installing the Windpilot, I will install the SSB and do the other myriad of jobs on my list. Then we will go sailing. What's even better is that I will finish work once and for all in January 2009 - just 12 months to go - and then go sailing where it is warm.

So, hello.

Now - I'm looking at installing a watermaker and would be interested in views on:
HRO 200;
Schenker Smart 30 and Modular 30;
Spectra 150

I do not intend to install a diesel generator as I have solar panels, a wind generator and will install a towed water generator.

Many thanks for your thoughts.

Welcome Phillip - I would suggest you use the search function on this forum and look for those items/areas you would like to discuss - then start a thread (if there isn't 3 or 4 already) on exactly what you would like to know. This particular forum, Meets & Greets, is great to say HI from, but for technical questions, best to go to the right forum.

Good luck!

Philiph, Welcome aboard (Fáilte romhat isteach!)

It sounds like we have the weather and work situations in common but I'm laid up after a back surgery

You might try the SEARCH box, above, and type in each water maker name to see if they have been discussed.

One of our members here (senormechanico) has a set up that I really like.

enjoy the forum........................._/)

A sailors lot in the winter is indeed hard. But of course we will go sailing eventually! If you get past this hurdle you can do it all.

We have a lot of discussions on watermakers here that you can read already. Personally the spectra is about the most efficent but at a high price tag. It always nice if the energy and the financial budgets can both be in good shape.
