Anyone in Norway ?

Hi all,

I am based in Tønsberg/Stavanger, and have just bought myself a bunch of trouble in the form of a Lagoon 42 Cat, that my family and I will be sailing from Norway to Australia next year.

The boat needs "some" tidying up, so my first question is, is there anyone out there with any good contacts for a new fridge freezer system in my area?

Sure there will be other questions as well as I discover more things!!
Thanks for any help!

Buc

Welcome aboard. Sorry can't help. At what temperature does a cat freeze? It's got to be getting pretty cool up there by now. Enjoy your new project.

Too cold in Norway, way too cold...

Which is why I left the place some 30 years ago, palm trees and sunshine in Florida suits me better.

As for fridge for the 42' cat: What size is yer boxes and what is powering the compressor and the batteries? Solar panels, or generator?

For a smaller system, I can highly recommend the Technautics Cool Blue.
Had it for 7 years and put 8000 hours on the system so far.
It has been very relible and uses very little power.

About 40 to 50 amps per day will run a 3 cubic feet freezer and a 6 cubic feet fridge with temps at -10 C and +5 C.
If I crank the thermostat down to lowest setting the freezer will stay at
-21 C, but the power consumption goes up to about 100 amp/hours per day, not really practical as my solar panels pump out about 50 to 60 amp/hours on a good sunny day.

A big cat will of course have unlimited real estate to hang panels and that may be the solution...

Say hello to Norway from the lost son..
