Hi All,

New to the forum and sailing in general. Excellent site. Thanks for having me aboard.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Frank.

I wouldn't think that Fanshaw offers much opportunity for good cruising.

It doesn't. That's why I berth out of Port Stanley. Fanshawe is a nice little lake though and the folks at the yacht club there are great.

Hi Frank!
Welcome to CF! Is sailing one of the greatest things you've taken up, or what?

Seems like I'm always meeting Canadians. So far just this year: in a restaurant in San Francisco, on a rafting trip on the San Juan River, and many on a transatlantic cruise (Venice--New York). All were a friendly lot.

Welcome, Frank... as a Canuck transplanted to the US years ago, CF is a great place to exchange ideas, learn what has/hasn't worked out there and is just fun to participate... as you have already noticed, we all give and take a fair bit of ribbing and if someone gets too serious or carried away, the group helps them back on track in a humorous way (usually)! My wife's relatives in Australia call me a 'snap frozen Yank'... cheers, Capt Phil

Thanks for the warm everyone.

As you can see my boat is far from a cruiser, more of a cruiser with training wheels. The missus and I are learning on this one and hope to move up to a deeper draft in a few years. Probably not much longer but definitely with more volume and head room

Until then, we have three of the Great Lakes close by to explore. Navigation, sail trim and anchoring to learn. Not to mention figuring out how to make the prefect sundowner.

Could there possibly be anything better than this?
