I know you have already said you don't have time for "reading". But the NASA link says this:

Quote:
Coauthor Felix Landerer of JPL noted that during the same period warming in the top half of the ocean continued unabated, an unequivocal sign that our planet is heating up. Some recent studies reporting deep-ocean warming were, in fact, referring to the warming in the upper half of the ocean but below the topmost layer, which ends about 0.4 mile (700 meters) down.
And the Nature Climate Change paper says this:

Quote:
Our model-based analysis suggests that nearly half of theindustrial-era increases in global OHC have occurred in recent decades, with over a third of the accumulated heat occurring below 700 m and steadily rising.
I fail to see the disagreement.

Re: Why Climate Change Won't Matter in 20 Years

The MMGW are calling a difference so minuscule as to be potential error in reading THE SAME THERMOMETER by 2 different people significant...

And they aren't using the same thermometer...

Instrument deviation being what it is (in reality) we have.... effectively ZERO change in temperature.

And MMGW goons are harping about how big of a problem that is.

First, thank you for your detailed and patient answer to the "3%" point. I've never had such patience in the face of so much willful ignorance, and this lot burned out even the patient, well-read and thorough Jackdale. In the relatively few times that I engaged directly with a scientific dialogue, they usually scatter like bugs when the kitchen light goes on.

But you hit the nail on the head: this is entertainment, mainly, and a place for birds of a certain feather to repeat their half-truths to each other, in the belief that if you say anything often enough, it becomes significant. It is only a little entertaining for me; I wouldn't bother normally, except that the subject of AGW is, to me, just too important to be dismissed like this.

That's true. But you can tell from the tone of his most recent posts that he's getting pretty exasperated, and Exile's been all gloaty about it.

You probably haven't caught on to the fact, Mr_f, that I don't have a problem with co2 or a warming planet. I have a problem with bunkum. And right now you're writing bunkum.

I could waffle on with my reasons, but allow me to be succinct and say "Lake Effect thinks they disagree".

You have no basis for that conclusion. Have you ever heard me diss NASA? I was adding MORE information.

You may take it as implied that I still think the oceans have taken up the heat that others claim is missing. If newhaul meant to indicate that he thinks the oceans are not gaining heat, then yes i disagree with him. Not NASA.

Actually L E the NASA report contain alll the information not just on the deep oceans lack of measurable warming. So I feel that your rebuttal post was an attempt at misdirection
Or were you trying to bring more attention to a small portion of the overall report.
Btw I originally posted this information to rebut someone trying to say that deep ocean warming is the cause of some increase in sea levels ( of which I don't see happening globally. ). But that was some 200 pages or more ago.
The real difference between my view and yours is what we each consider to be deep ocean.

You guys are adorable.

Look, your game is really off today. It's entertaining as per mr_f, but also kind of embarrassing. Take a break.

Re: Why Climate Change Won't Matter in 20 Years

Why is no one asking the important questions, like how can I cash in on this with a green startup of no particular positive environmental impact but that sounds deserving of wads of taxpayer cash. A name like SolariusGAIAwindlectropanelsCooperative specializing in magnetic field Bald Eagle deflectors. The Eagle windmills power their own deflectors, sadly nothing left over to power anything else but if you complain you're a Bald Eagle killer.
