I know, I was just being flippant with my normal tongue in cheek comments. NASA provides some great shots from space.

Think duct tape and 5200 would fix it?

Re: Weather One Doesn't Want to Encounter at Sea

Dunno about those, but I got a package of about 20-odd pix emailed to me. Some were pretty clearly real and at least one was a (non-obvious) fake.

The image shows a powerboat that apparently has hit a piling and been split right down the middle, about 10 feet, or so. Reason I suspect Photoshop is that the Mythbusters (TV show) tried to duplicate the effect and couldn't do it.

48 foot of mast on 41 foot of boat? Man, that's less mast height than my motorsailer!

How's your speed to windward?

A pretty picture just wouldn't convey the horror of two or three weeks of no wind but some lumpy swell.

Re: Weather One Doesn't Want to Encounter at Sea

I wonder what it was like sailing near this F3 tornado last weekend that came off Lake Huron to destroy the town of Goderich, Ontario?

Your last thought would be "gee, my deck looks clean!"

Re: Weather One Doesn't Want to Encounter at Sea

This storm (with 50-foot-plus seas) in the North Atlantic caused a bowl of cereal and milk to fall into my lap as well as to fall to the floor on my back and badly sprain my left knee but much worse for some other passengers and crew. Nevertheless, it was interesting and not scary. That's the beauty of sailing in 1000-foot-long vessels.
