Ice Bucket

Other than having ice all over and around in the cooler, is there a particular type or brand of ice bucket that will keep ice for a reasonable length of time...a couple of hours.

There's nothing more irritating than having to go below for an ice cube or two every time the wife want's more for her drink because they all have melted in the 2 hours it takes her to finish her cocktail.

Re: Ice bucket question

Best solution to that is to build one yourself. I used to do a lot of camping, and found that the store bought ones were the pits at best. Figure out the size you want, make a plywood box that size, then sheath the outside with minimum 2 inch foam. All sides, including the lid. Then glass the outside. Put on handles and hinges and you are away to the races. If you have unused space below the cockpit seats, then perhaps you could build it in there or into the stern deck. Figure a box big enough to carry one bag of ice. Maximum 14x10x10 inside, add 4 inches to each dimension for the outside dims and go from there. Its like building a new reefer inside the boat. Lots of insulation is the way to go. Put in a drain if you like or mop it out after the ice melts. Of course you could build it a lot smaller too but don't skimp on the insulation.
