We have our mounted along the boat, seems to work fine for my wife even when we heel quite a lot. No passage for weeks but full long days on the same direction at least. (Works for me sitting too)

Do you mean it's mounted facing either forward or aft? Unfortunately that's not an option in our space.

It's facing forward, in a rather cramped (low) space.
